We have been holding various activities throughout our organisation to celebrate Black History Month. These include:
- Wellbeing groups holding fascinating and informative quizzes covering a wide range of topics related to black history.
- Friends in Need hosting an event with a speaker from the local community led discussion on black history.
- The Children and Young People’s Services team sending out newsletters to schools themed around black history.
- Holding a Wear Red Day on 15th October in support of the Show Racism the Red Card movement.
In addition, Bucks Mind is celebrating the contributions black Britons have made to our vibrant and diverse society by asking you to nominate inspirational black British people to highlight on our Facebook page. Our first nomination was George Mpanga, better known by his stage name George the Poet, who is a British spoken-word artist, poet, rapper and podcast host with an interest in social and political issues.
Please visit www.facebook.com/BucksMind to nominate someone.
