Buckinghamshire Mind is celebrating being chosen as Chesham United AFC’s charity partner.
The partnership will aim to raise awareness of mental health among the club, fans and the greater Buckinghamshire community. Chesham United AFC is passionate about raising the profile of Buckinghamshire Mind, supporting the charity in raising vital funds for local mental health services and promoting key mental health messages over the season.
Just some of which will include:
- World Mental Health Day, Saturday 10th October
- Heads Together, Heads Up Campaign, a season-long campaign to change the conversation on mental health
- Sponsored activities to fundraise for Buckinghamshire Mind
- Mental health wellness training tips.
Peter Brown, Chesham United AFC Chairman, stated:
“As a football club it is so important that we play our part in the community, above and beyond just fielding a semi-professional team every Saturday for the paying spectators, which is why I am so excited by the prospect of our new partnership with Buckinghamshire Mind.
“As a football club it is so important that we play our part in the community above and beyond just fielding a semi-professional team every Saturday for the paying spectators, which is why I am so excited by the prospect of our new partnership with Buckinghamshire Mind. Mental well-being has been a hidden concern for a long time amongst people of all ages and the current pandemic has only heightened the problem and it is so important that we take this opportunity to help people to cope with their own issues and spread the message that it is ok to talk about your concerns.
“We have hundreds of players, supporters and helpers, men and women, boys and girls, associated with the club and we want to use our new relationship with Buckinghamshire Mind to encourage them to be alert to their own feelings and those of their friends and family, and to be aware that mental health is not something you have to tackle alone. If we can use our position within the community to raise the awareness of Bucks Mind and help them with the work they carry out, then that will be one of our best victories of the season.”
Buckinghamshire Mind are delighted to collaborate with Chesham United AFC over the coming season to further support mental wellness for all, break down stigmas on mental health issues and highlight ways in which sport can make a positive impact on mental health.
