We are delighted to announce that Buckinghamshire Mind has been chosen by the new Mayor of Amersham, Councillor Clive Morgan, as his Mayor’s Charity during his term of office.
The Mayor met with Kaya Mallinder, Buckinghamshire Mind’s Fundraising and Communications Officer, at the end of May to understand more about the work of the charity in Amersham and the local area and how this is positively impacting everyone affected by issues surrounding mental health.
“Modern living and lifestyles are today having an impact on almost everyone,” says Cllr Morgan. “Pace, pressure, noise, financial concerns, uncertainty and the daily news feed all of which add to the impact upon men, women and children of all ages. Not only can these factors result in physical illness, but increasingly, the effects are manifesting themselves in mental ill-health; not only in our community but nationally.”
The Mayor of Amersham visited Buckinghamshire Mind’s Older Adults’ Service at Sun House in Chesham on Wednesday 28th June.
“We are delighted to have been chosen as the Mayor of Amersham’s Charity and we were very grateful to Cllr Morgan for taking the time to meet with our service users, staff and volunteers during his recent visit,” says Andrea McCubbin, Buckinghamshire Mind’s Chief Executive. “I would like to thank the Mayor and Amersham Town Council for their support and we look forward to working closely with them throughout Cllr Morgan’s term of office.”
Amersham Town Council is keen to support Buckinghamshire Mind in all its fundraising efforts and will be working closely with us on various upcoming community initiatives.
“My thoughts are currently focused towards the needs of the Amersham community, and I am grateful for the work that Buckinghamshire Mind are undertaking regarding mental health,” explains Cllr Morgan. “As this is my designated charity for my Mayoral year, I would welcome your generous support with this charity, with the aim of making a significant difference to those with mental health needs within our community.”
