Our free Counselling Service provides one-to-one counselling for people on low incomes for up to 10 sessions.
Who is Eligible?
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, our free Counselling Service is for Buckinghamshire residents aged 18 years old or above who are registered with a Bucks GP. People who are either on a low income or are in receipt of benefits or pension are eligible to access the service. As part of the funding criteria, you will need to provide evidence of your financial situation to ensure you meet the required conditions.
As well as self-referrals, we accept referrals from other health professionals, for example, GPs, Social Workers, or a Health Care Professionals.

What happens when I refer online?
The self-referral form has been designed to be easy to understand. Once you have completed the referral, a member of the Bucks Mind team will contact you.

Self-Referrals
Please complete in full the self-referral form below. Once you have completed the referral form, we will email you to confirm receipt of the referral and be in contact to check your eligibility for the service. As soon as we have an available Counselling space we will contact you to book an Assessment.
Professional Referrals
If you are a professional you can refer directly to us – please ensure that you have the person’s consent and the individual meets the criteria of the service before making the referral.
What is an Assessment?
An Assessment is a one-to-one session with a member of the Counselling team who will listen to your needs and explore whether Counselling or another service is suitable for your needs. The Assessment takes place either face-to-face, online or over the telephone and usually lasts up to an hour.
On completion of the Assessment, if the Bucks Mind Counselling Service is the right service to support you, we will allocate you to one of our Counsellors as soon as we can for ongoing counselling sessions. Please be aware that there may be a wait for this. The Counsellor who will work with you for up to 10 weeks.
