Andrea McCubbin, CEO, said:

Working for Buckinghamshire Mind has been a great privilege and the highlight of my professional career. I am extremely proud of our achievements during this time. I am not moving onto another role – but rather, plan to take some time to support my family, reflect and explore new opportunities in this next chapter of my life.

This has not been an easy decision for me to make but I feel that now is the right time for me to be making way for another person to lead our fabulous charity. Together, we have built Buckinghamshire Mind and Mind in Berkshire into impactful, sustainable and influential organisations – and collectively we have so many reasons to be proud.

I am immensely grateful to the Board for their ongoing support and leadership and look forward to welcoming my successor in due course. I will, of course, in the meantime continue putting my full energy and efforts into ensuring our charity continues to be led well, meeting the needs of the people we support.

Lesley Michaelis, Chair, said:

While we are saddened by Andrea’s departure, we are, of course, excited for her future, and we also want to celebrate the remarkable impact she has had on Buckinghamshire Mind.  I am sure that you will all join me in thanking Andrea for her exceptional service and leadership.

Under Andrea’s leadership, our portfolio of all-age services has expanded significantly to cover prevention, recovery, talking therapies and alternatives to crisis. The annual impact these services have in the community has increased threefold, with 9,130 people being supported last year. Some of the notable accomplishments during Andrea’s tenure have been putting in place a strong, high performing senior leadership team; the creation of Mind in Berkshire in partnership with Oxfordshire Mind; and the development of strong collaborative commissioning relationships with key stakeholders, especially in the NHS – building our influence and credibility. In addition, she has ensured that we have remained in robust financial health during the period. Her vision and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in our success.

We are incredibly grateful to Andrea for her contribution over the past decade and her commitment to the role in this period of transition.  We are looking forward to recruiting the next CEO in the months ahead, who will continue to build on the solid foundation that Andrea has helped establish.
