Champion the Change Campaign Closure
Our mental health anti-stigma campaign, Champion the Change, came to an end on 31 March 2025. We will continue to showcase the campaign’s legacy through these webpages in the hope it will support people to have positive conversations about mental health, challenge stigma and increase people’s access to the support available.
You can still get involved and support mental health in the following ways:
- Volunteer for Bucks Mind
- Influence and Participation opportunities with Bucks Mind
- Donate to Bucks Mind
- Fundraise for Bucks Mind
- Join national Mind campaigns
Thank you to everyone who has supported Champion the Change and continues to challenge mental health stigma and discriminations.
Champion the Change hosted a Bucks Big Chat awareness event four times a year, with the aim of encouraging people to talk more openly about mental health.

Our last Bucks Big Chat was held on 29th February 2024, during Eating Disorders Awareness Week (28th Feb to 3rd March).
The event, via Zoom, was aimed at parents and people who work with children and young people. We were delighted that Tessa Peters gave a talk about Lived Experience with Eating Disorders. This was followed by Q&A and discussion.
Tessa has experienced body image issues since she was a young child, which left her feeling alone and misunderstood. She has since founded a charity that provides support to help people cope with body image issues.
Please watch a recording of the talk below.
** Trigger warning: Please be aware, eating disorders are discussed in this video.**

Start Conversations
It would be great to get conversations started with family, friends and colleagues about how stigma can make us feel and ways in which we think we can challenge negative attitudes.
Free Anti-Stigma Resources for Bucks Schools
Bucks Mind’s Children and Young People Team created resources that aim to encourage children, parents and school staff to start conversations to help identify and challenge stigma. We have different activities to suit the different age groups, such as guided workshops and videos. If your own children or a relative’s/friend’s children attend a Bucks school, please ask their school to sign up.
